Exercise 3 - Individual post - Edwin Li

The next step in our work will be to implement the theories from the course literature and to do a conclusion of the data that we have gathered. It is possible that we will plan on doing further interviews if needed, but as of now we seem to have identified a problem. From a grounded theory perspective we already have done some work. Namely, from our feasibility study, we have inductively formed hypotheses that we could later confirm or deny by conducting our formal interviews with the target group. We will now start to design our new interface based on our proposed problem and thus move away from data gathering. We plan on updating the software of the ticket machine and implement a few functions, and our focus will be on single way tickets that will be easy to purchase and to use.

Next time we will be working on conceptual design that both satisfies the functions and looks good for a user. Then we will put these ideas into requirement specifications. We will look for examples from the course literature on good design and common traps that one can fall into. For instance we will examine how buttons and text fields should be aligned together, which colors that match and which who don't, and how direct and ambient sounds will affect a user. We will do this without neglecting functionality, so we will discuss how to get a symbiotic relationship between solving our problem while creating a stylish interface that doesn't create new problems
